It was good to see Warren Miller's latest film, Higher Ground, this evening. I really missed not being able to ski last season because of my travel schedule for work. (And it was a historic snow year, to boot!) So, watching this film helped me get pumped for the upcoming season. The REI discount each attendee gets never hurts, either.
Interestingly, the film spent much more time on skiers than snowboarders this year. As such, it didn't have the same high-energy, wild-n-crazy feel to it. Not that I mind, though, since I'm a two-planker, too.
Warren was sharing the mic with someone new and I found it kind of sad. It foreshadows a time in the not-so-distant future when Warren will no longer be with us, and a lot of the charm his films have is due to his warm voice and delivery. I think I'll have to go watch some of the past years' DVDs.
