I just wanted to pass-on a great customer service experience I had with Aerostich. A few weeks ago I was a clutz and tripped while getting out of my Darien pants. This put enough force on the fly zipper to tear out three or four of the zipper's teeth. I called Aerostich to see about repairs and mentioned that I needed them back soon as I leave on Labor Day weekend for my TAT trip.
The fellow I spoke with told me to wash 'em and send 'em in; they'd get 'em fixed in time. It'd be $40 to replace the zipper, as they'd have to re-tape and seam seal the fly area's GoreTex liner. OK, well, a new pair run $275, so I guess that's not too bad.
A couple of days after I sent the pants to Aerostich I got a call from the same fellow. He said he'd looked at the pants and decided to cover the repairs under warranty! The only charge would be for expedited shipping to return them ($10).
The pants arrived today, the quality of the work is good, and they even replaced the velcro on the leg that holds the (optional) map pocket in place, as it had frayed a little bit along the edges. That's two more places that they had to re-tape and seal, again covered under warranty.
It seems like such quality service is fairly rare these days, so I wanted to take a moment of your time and point it out. Kudos to Aerostich!
