I've decided to retain the services of Terry Dyson (Dyson Analysis) to help me interpret my UOAs and to find the most optimal lubrication for my particular usage patterns. Because the analyses are Terry's intellectual property I won't be able to give very many details, but I should be able to give you enough to understand why I make the choices I make regarding oil brand, viscosity, and oil change intervals (OCIs).
Terry, after examining this UOA, believes the oil is probably the KawaChem 10W-40 conventional oil. This means that in approximately half of the oil's service life, as defined by Kawasaki, the oil had sheared out of grade. Not good!
He attributes the high levels of Cu, Al and Si to dirt ingress through the air filter. This makes sense, as the stock air filter was filthy and looked like it had never been cleaned when I took ownership of the bike.
Terry believes that the engine is in good shape, however, with good ring seal.
